Jack of Hilton Hall is a rare aeolipile which has been owned by the Vernon Family for many years and kept at Hilton Hall,
it is now on show at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxfordshire. When filled with water and heated in the fire it made a noise which reminded all the tenants at the New Year Day Party at the Hall to pay their “due” rents.
